Tory, thanks for adding this story. I can think of many small town businesses that didn’t successfully make this kind of transition.

Being a leader and being an owner often times requires a completely different skill set. And I would say separating the two is extremely important especially during ownership transition – like from father to son. I’ve personally witnessed a son take over a company with absolutely zero leadership skills. Luckily, the father had setup a great management team to keep the business operating smoothly during the transition and for years to come.
